Norman and Patricia Engel purchased and restored their land to provide their children and grandchildren a place to observe and explore the natural world. Now they’ve chosen to protect it forever.

The Engels have planted thousands of trees, worked to repair riverbank erosion, installed windbreaks for wildlife habitat, and enhanced wetland areas. The conservation easement will protect these areas as well as approximately 3,500 feet of the West Branch of the Cedar River.

This conservation easement was completed through Cedar River Conservation Easement Project, which was funded through a grant from the State of Michigan’s Clean Michigan Initiative.
