Glenn and Carol Sanford, 20 acres
Fork Township, Mecosta County

When they were looking for a quiet place to retire, Glenn and Carol Sanford purchased a beautiful property along the Chippewa River. Upon reading about the work of The Little Forks Conservancy on the Starks property just downstream, they contacted us to help them guarantee that the forested buffer along over 1,000 feet of river was forever protected. In 2001, the Sanfords donated a conservation easement to ensure that the woods along both banks of the river, which they control, would not be cut down or damaged by future owners.

Although only 20 acres in size, the site is exceptionally diverse and is home to a tremendous amount of wildlife. Belted kingfishers, migrating ducks, blue heron, small mouth bass, deer, porcupine, raccoons and many others call this property home and stop by for food or shelter.
