This November, we are celebrating the 20th anniversary of one of Little Forks Conservancy’s conservation easements. In 2005, Scott and Kathryn Whalen permanently protected their 119-acre property in Gladwin, ensuring that its woods, wetlands, and open fields would remain undeveloped for years to come.
Beyond protection, the Whalens have embraced hands-on stewardship. They’ve worked to remove invasive plants, plant native trees and wildflowers, and improve habitat for wildlife. Through their care, the land continues to thrive. We’re grateful to the Whalens for their lasting commitment to conservation and for being part of Little Forks’ growing network of protected lands. Their dedication 20 years ago helped lay the foundation for the land protection work we continue today: keeping our region’s natural spaces healthy, connected, and thriving for the next generation.
