Stewardship series is about bringing topics to the community about the environment, wildlife, and land management. There are several ways people can get enthusiastic about the environment and we want to provide those opportunities to let community members find an environmental niche and create stewards of our planet.
|
Stewardship is defined as the conducting, supervising, or managing of something; or the careful and responsible management of something entrusted to one's care (Merriam-Webster).

Herbaceous Invasives - Identification and Control
It is easy to focus on invasive shrubs we see them year-round across the landscape and make it difficult to navigate through the woods. Herbaceous invasive plants have no woody stems that persist throughout the year, they are often mixed in with other plants and tend to spread a massive seed bank making them difficult to control once established. In this session Preserve Manager Sara Huetteman will cover how to identify the herbaceous invasive present in our community and a few to look out for and catch early. We'll cover mechanical and chemical ways to control these plants that you can easily implement in your own woods or gardens.
